Can XDB be used in dedicated server mode (Doc ID 433831.1)

The XML Database Developer’s Guide  says that one of the requirement for Oracle XDB install is configuring Oracle server in shared server mode.

1. Add the following dispatcher entry to the init.ora file:
dispatchers="(PROTO =TCP) (SERVICE=<sid>XDB)"


Can this requirement be avoided and XML DB installed and used in a dedicated Oracle server?
