UTL_MAIL Reports ORA-29279 when the SMTP Server is ZMailer. (Doc ID 434768.1)

Symptoms

UTL_MAIL reports the following error when the SMTP server is ZMailer. 

SQL> alter session set SMTP_OUT_SERVER ='Mail_Server_Name, port id' ;

Session altered.

SQL>
BEGIN
  UTL_MAIL.SEND(sender => 'email_address',
                recipients => 'email_address',
                cc => 'email_address',
                bcc => 'email_address',
                subject => 'Test Mail',
                message => 'This is a test');
END;
/


ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 501 5.1.7 Hello [ip address], where is <...> in that?

If a connection is attempted using a telnet session, the same error can be reproduced

telnet <ZMailer SMTP Mail Server>
220 ZMailer Server 2.99.57
helo
Hello
mail from: email_address
