NullPointerException is Thrown by the Cleaner Thread (Doc ID 436393.1)

Symptoms

After running an application for a long period of time, and performing a huge number of reads, writes, deletes on the order of millions of objects, the JE Cleanup thread starts throwing a NPE (NullPointerException). The following error messages could be printed out for a large number of times:

Before reading this please refer also to the following note, <Note 436388.1>. The fix provided for this issue is a patch that should be applied after the patch in that note is applied.
