ORA-01017 Or ORA-28274 While Connecting As An EUS User Who Is Synchronized with AD (Doc ID 437185.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2022

Applies to:

Advanced Networking Option - Version 10.1.4.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You have set up OID synchronization with the AD and has configured external authentication
plugin successfully. You have registered the DB with the OID and configured EUS successfully.

But, when you try to login to the DB as the AD user via sqlplus may fail with the below errors

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
ORA-28274: No ORACLE password attribute corresponding to user nickname exists

The same AD user can successfully login to OIDDAS (Oracle Internet Directory Self Service
Console). So, OID is successfully authenticatng the AD user.

After login to the OIDDAS, the same AD user now can successfully connect to the DB via sqlplus.
Thus it requires that all the AD users first should login to OIDDAS and then only they will be
able to login to DB via sqlplus as EUS user.
