ORA-00600 [ksfdfetch1] or ORA-600 [kfioReapIO00] During RMAN Backup When MAXPIECESIZE Is Set or Configured (Doc ID 437640.1)

Symptoms

Symptoms can manifest themselves in the following ways:

  1. During an RMAN backup, a tracefile is generated with this error:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ksfdfetch1], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

    The RMAN log shows the following:
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_2 channel at 06/25/2007 08:56:00
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ksfdfetch1], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

    The call stack contains:
    ksfdfetch ksfqwat ksfqfcls krbbCloseOutput krbbpc krbibpc pevm_icd_call_commo pfrinstr_ICAL pfrrun_no_tool pfrrun plsql_run pricar pricbr prient2 prient kkxrpc kporpc      

  2. A different error when MAXPIECESIZE is set or configured may also be seen (call stack not available):
    ORA-600 [kfioReapIO00]
                     

  3. The following error may also be captured in the alert log:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [1880]

    The corresponding call stack can look like this:
    ksfqwat ksfqfcls krbbCloseOutput krbbpc krbibpc pevm_icd_call_common
