Sqlplus Segmentation Faults from 8.0.6 E-Business Suite Mid-tier When Attempting to Connect To 10g R1 DB with AL32UTF8 Character Set (Doc ID 443795.1)

Symptoms

-- Problem Statement:
Customer reports 'Segmentation Fault - core dumped' error messages trying to connect from an EBS
Application Server, (8.0.6.x) based mid-tier environment to an OCS, Oracle10g R1 (10.1.0.5)
database.

Customer has two Oracle10g R1 Databases on the remote server:

11i EBS version: 11.5.10.2 (database version = 10.1.0.5) with compatible set to 10.1.0.4.0)
10g OCS version: 10.1.2.3 (database version = 10.1.0.5) with compatible set to 10.1.0)

Both the 11i EBS database and 10g OCS database reside on the same server.

While connecting to 11i EBS database is ok, customer is unable to connect to the OCS database.
