ORA-01294 : STARTING LOG MINER Fails While Processing Information in Dictionary File (Doc ID 444624.1)

Symptoms

Starting the Log Miner using DBMS_LOGMNR.START_LOGMNR fails with error ORA-01294

Following is the Test case :

SQL > show parameter utl_file_dir

NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
utl_file_dir string /t01/temp/oraprod, /tmp, /u11/
app/ilprodcomn/temp, *

SQL > exec dbms_logmnr_d.build('dictionary.ora','/t01/temp/oraprod/');

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

SQL > exec dbms_logmnr.add_logfile(logfilename=>'/u01/oradata/ILPROD_0000065317.arc',options=>dbms_logmnr.new);

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

SQL > exec
dbms_logmnr.start_logmnr(dictfilename=>'/t01/temp/oraprod/dictionary.ora');

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01294: error occurred while processing information in dictionary file ,
possible corruption
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGMNR", line 53
ORA-06512: at line 1

 

Created Dictionary file twice. Creation completes succesfully, but starting logminer using the dictionary file still fails.
