Last updated on APRIL 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.0 and later
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS VAX

Symptoms

Cannot rollforward AIJ files after an RMU/RESTORE.

Between the RESTORE and the RECOVER, someone made a change to the database. A change could be as simple as enabling journaling, dropping or adding journals, or changing any data inside the database.

The recovery then fails with these errors...
%RMU-I-LOGRECDB, recovering database file DGA01:[RESTORE_DB]MF_PERSONNEL.RDB;1
%RMU-F-DBMODIFIED, database has been modified; AIJ roll-forward not possible
%RMU-F-FTL_RCV, Fatal error for RECOVER operation at 9-AUG-2007 06:46:19.97
