RDBPROD: RDBSERVER Decnet Object Defined with RDB$REMOTE User ID (Doc ID 459452.1)

Last updated on APRIL 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.2.1.3 and later
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha

Symptoms

When making remote connections to Rdb V7.2, there is confusion as to what login.com file should be used on the remote server.

Typically, the RDBSERVER process is used for remote connections, however, after installing Rdb 7.2 on an Itanium or Alpha, RDBSERVER is using USER ID: RDB$REMOTE even though the installation guide states it will be using RDB$REMOTE72.

In some instances this account (RDB$REMOTE) does not exist, nor does its login file.

Changes

New Rdb installation on Itanium or Alpha platforms
