Failed to Start CRS stack After Adding a New Voting Disk (Doc ID 460874.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

After adding a new voting disk, starting CRS failed with the following errors:

  1. /var/adm/messages repeatedly show messages that look like:

    Jun 1 11:36:11 devdb1 root: [ID 702911 user.error] Cluster Ready Services
    waiting on dependencies. Diagnostics in /tmp/crsctl.14326.

  2. /tmp/crsctl.14326 contains the following entries:
    Failure -2 opening file handle for (vdisk2.dat)
    Failure 1 checking the CSS voting disk 'vdisk2.dat'.
    Not able to read adequate number of voting disks

Changes

The only new change is adding a new voting disk using the following steps:
  1. Shutdown the CRS stack on ALL nodes
  2. Add a new voting disk
