Symptoms

You invoked runinstaller.com and entered in the location for oracle_home and the scratch
area. While waiting for the OUI window to appear, the following message is displayed back to the runinstaller.com window.


You do not have sufficient permissions to access the inventory '/disk$oracle1/oracle_inventory'.
Installation cannot continue. Make sure that you have read/write permissions to the
inventory directory and restart the installer.: non-translatable vms error code: 0x186D4
%rms-f-syn, file specification syntax error

INFORMATION: A number of temporary logicals and global symbols have been
defined which may have overridden your defaults.

Please LOGOUT and LOGIN again to ensure these are cleaned up.
