Sample to use Oracle Multimedia with Securefiles
(Doc ID 462019.1)
Last updated on APRIL 01, 2020
Applies to:
Oracle Multimedia - Version 11.1.0.6 to 11.2.0.3 [Release 11.1 to 11.2]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
Starting with Oracle 11g, Oracle Multimedia supports the new generation of LOBs, which is
called Oracle SecureFiles.
It is suggested by Oracle Multimedia Development to use SecureFiles Lobs for Oracle Multimedia,
although the default implementation is still the original LOB storage architecture, BasicFiles LOBs. With SecureFiles Oracle
introduces a completely re-engineered large object (LOB) that dramatically improves
performance and significantly strengthens the native content management capabilities of
Oracle Database.
Hence, using SecureFiles to store media content within Oracle Multimedia object types is recommended
to benefit from the performance improvement introduced by this new BLOB implementation.
The purpose of this document is to demonstrate the usage of SecureFiles together with Oracle Multimedia.
Scope
Database Administrators and Application Developers working with Oracle Multimedia.
