Is It Possible To Use DataPump Export (EXPDP) Directly With GZIP? (Doc ID 463336.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

With the traditional export utility (EXP) you can run the export with gzip program like below:

#> mknod /u01/backup/exp/export_pipe p
#> nohup /usr/bin/gzip < /u01/backup/exp/export_pipe > /u01/backup/exp/dbaceh.dmp.gz 2 > /u01/backup/logs/gzip.log &
#> exp user/passwd file=/u01/backup/exp/export_pipe buffer=40000000 log=/u01/backup/logs/dbaceh.log full=y >> $ARQLOG 2>>$ARQLOG

When trying to do the export using EXPDP (DataPump export) in the same way, the dump file does not work with the gzip program.

Is it possible to use EXPDP with GZIP?
