Symptoms

After applying CPUOCT2007 patch, while attempting to run the catcpu.sql script, the following error could be encountered :

BEGIN dbms_aw_build.build('EXPRESS', FALSE); END; 


ERROR at line 1: 
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel 

ERROR: 
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE 

In the alert log, the following error is registered :

ORA-07445:exception encountered:core dump[ACCESS_VIOLATION][_xspgReducePool+3171][PC:0x2983D47][ADDR:0x208][UNABLE_TO_WRITE][]

Changes

Applied the critical patch update to the database.
