Core Dumps In skgfqio() - Database Startup Hangs/Spins (Doc ID 466596.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.


When trying to start the instance, the SQL*Plus session appears to hang. No entries in the alert.log from the startup attempt, but when killing SQL*Plus from the OS and aborting the instance from a new session, we see entries like:
Shutting down instance (abort)
and occasional entries like:
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [skgfqio()+34] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0xFCFFFDB8] [] []
From the call stack in the trace file from the skgfqio() dump, we see that we are looping in the functions:
... lrmpst lrmpzpparse pz5strt7 pzmove lrmpzax lrmaikv ksplrmpt kspopisetp ...
and then back to lrmpst lrmpzpparse etc. Eventually, we fail in:
... ksfdread skgfqio
