Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to describe configuration of SSL authenticated EUS(Enterprise User Security) for 10g versions.

This article also guides you on how to use different Distinguished Name (DN) in user certificate which is different from the entry DN in OID.The Distinguished Name (DN) in the user certificate no longer needs to match the DN in Oracle Internet Directory, this is a new feature in 10.2.

The beauty of the SSL authentication is that clients do not have to supply user name and password, they login as 'sqlplus /@<connect string>' and also is very secure compared to password authentication.

Scope

This article is primarily intended for System and Database Administrators and Security Administrators wishing to implement EUS over SSL authentication.

You are assumed to have basic knowledge about Oracle Wallet and SSL. However, you can refer the References section below for more knowledge on Oracle Wallets and SSL.
