Symptoms
While installing the CPUOCT2007 patch for Oracle RDBMS 10.2.0.2 on OpenVMS Alpha the following errors are displayed to the screen:
$ @install_patch
%RMS-W-RTB, 32575 byte record too large for user's buffer
%DCL-W-UNDSYM, undefined symbol - check validity and spelling
\RECORD\
...
ERROR: Missing or invalid patch information:
Patch number is missing
Base bug number "" is not an integer
Patch type is missing
Patch date is missing
Product is missing
RDBMS version is missing
RAC option is missing
%SYSTEM-F-ABORT, abort
An additional symptom is:
The file PRODUCT_LIST.DAT has the wrong record attributes as shown below.
Record format: Stream_LF, maximum 0 bytes, longest 0 bytes
The file format for PRODUCT_LIST.DAT should be
Record format: Variable length, maximum 255 bytes, longest 93 bytes
