This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
Certain SQL statement over database link hangs. No error code is shown for the session.A typical example is that a select statement can run with no errors, where as a insert statement fails. Both SQL statement use the same databases and database link.
On server tracing the failure, you may see a error stack similar to the following
