PL/SQL Procedures Do Not Switch Result Cache Mode Within The Same Session (Doc ID 556035.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 26, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7 [Release 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.
Oracle Server Enterprise Edition - Version: 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7

Symptoms

If we create two identical procedures and run them from the same session we can see that they will use/ not use the result cache based on the value of the RESULT_CACHE_MODE which was set at the moment of their first execution within that session. Changing the parameter at the session/system level will not affect the usage of the result cache.
