RDBPROD: Database Data Incorrectly Translated When Using JDBC (Doc ID 559655.1)

Last updated on APRIL 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.1 and later
Oracle JDBC for Rdb - Version 7.1.1 and later
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha

Symptoms

Special language characters have been inserted into an Rdb Database which uses the DEC_MCS character set. When trying to read these characters through ResultSet's "getString" using the JDBC Thin driver for Rdb, garbage is returned. Expected behavior results in these characters being converted to UNICODE on the client side.
