ORA-00600 [1113] Instance Termination When Killing Sessions (Doc ID 561322.1)

Symptoms

Error ORA-00600 [1113] is reported to the alert.log and the instance is terminated by PMON.

The stack trace in the PMON trace file will have the following functions on the stack:

ksedmp ksfdmp kgeriv kgesiv

ksuxdl ksuxdp ksuxdpg ksucln ksbrdp

Changes

To be encountering this problem resource limits must be in use in the database and sessions must be killed from within Oracle using the alter system kill session command.  The error is normally encountered only in environments where the kill command is being executed programmatically at short intervals from the last command execution.

SQL> ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION <SID>, <SERIAL#>;
