ALTER TABLE RENAME COLUMN fails with ORA-600 [kkbrcupfind2] (Doc ID 563504.1)

Symptoms

The following sql statement

SQL> ALTER TABLE <table_name> RENAME COLUMN <column_name> TO <new_column_name>;

Fails with

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kkbrcupfind2], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

Call stack is

ksedst ksedmp ksfdmp kgerinv kgeasnmierr
kkb_rencol_update_funcindices kglsscn kqlsscn
kkb_rencol_update_dict kkb_rename_column atbdrv


Querying user_indexes shows that this table has a function-based index:

SQL> SELECT TABLE_NAME, INDEX_NAME, INDEX_TYPE, FUNCIDX_STATUS
2 FROM USER_INDEXES
3 WHERE TABLE_NAME = '<table_name>'
4 AND FUNCIDX_STATUS IS NOT NULL;.
