Caveats for Data Vault Passwords when Installing or Upgrading the Database Vault Option (Doc ID 579308.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Database Vault - Version 10.2.0.3 to 11.1.0.7 [Release 10.2 to 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When installing a new dv option in a 10.2.0.4 database, or when upgrading from 10.2.0.x, the dvca
script fails to update/upgrade the dvsys schema.
The error is:

java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01918: user 'DVSYS' does not exist

Subsequent operation also fail with various errors.
One workaround is to run:

SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catmac.sql SYSTEM TEMP <SYS_password> <DVSYS_password>

then run again dvca with all the desired options.
