ORA-600 [4842] / [4837] Errors When Trying To Alter or Drop a Role (Doc ID 579510.1)

Symptoms

1.  Executing an "ALTER ROLE <role name> IDENTIFIED USING '<value>'" command fails with an ORA-600 [4837] error.  The call stack resembles the following:

... kqrsup kzarsupd kzuial opiexe ...

2. Executing a "DROP ROLE <role name>" command fails with an ORA-600 [4842] error.  The call stack resembles the following:

... kqrsdl kzarsupd kzdudl kzudrp opiexe ...

Changes

The password associated with the role has been changed using an "ALTER ROLE <role name> IDENTIFIED USING '<value>'" command.
