Goal
This bulletin is for Database and Ultra Search Administrators maintaining an Ultra Search environment. As for all maintenance activities such as installing or uninstalling a database component, it is recommended to firstly make a whole cold database backup. Oracle Ultra Search is currently released with Oracle Database 11gR1 media. For information about installing database software refer to Oracle Database Installation Guide for your platform. Afterwards you can perform a new installation of Oracle Ultra Search with or without Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA).
*** Note *** Oracle Ultra Search is deprecated in Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1) and will no longer be included as part of future Oracle product sets. The end of support date for Ultra Search is tied to the end of support for Database Release 11.1, including Extended Support and Sustaining Support. Please see http://www.oracle.com/support/library/brochure/lifetime-support-technology.pdf for the exact desupport dates. The date in this notice corresponds to the end of Premier Support for Database Release 11.1.
