Performance issues Through Gateway When NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI (Doc ID 601547.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 19, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Database Gateway for DB2 - Version 10.2.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
***Checked for relevance on 08-Jul-2011***

Symptoms

The following query returns one row
select * from q.staff@DB2X_MKU WHERE NAME='JAMES';

But when setting the following NLS values the query is transformed and sent to DB2 without the
where clause in it:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=LINGUISTIC;
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI;

Then select * from q.staff@DB2X_MKU WHERE NAME='JAMES';

becomes that through the gateway :

select NAME from q.staff

Impacting very badly the performances.
