SERVICE_NAMES Parameter Change Between Releases 9i and 10g (Doc ID 602457.1)

Symptoms

Two dynamic services can be seen for the same database with the TNS listener.
Status ready tell us these services have come from PMON registration.

Note in the following example we have 2 different services (rdbms10 and oracle10) and 2 like instances for rdbms10:

Service "oracle10.oracle.com" has 1 instance(s).
  Instance "rdbms10", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    Handler(s):
      "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0 state:ready
         LOCAL SERVER
Service "rdbms10.oracle.com" has 1 instance(s).
  Instance "rdbms10", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    Handler(s):
      "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0 state:ready
         LOCAL SERVER

Changes

Upgrade of the Oracle home to 10g or 11g.
