This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
Client connections may fail with ORA-12539 errors in a RAC environment or in an environment where the REMOTE_LISTENER parameter is set in the database.
ORA-12539 TNS:buffer over- or under-flow
Specifically, if the NSPTRD packet size is over 532 bytes, clients may receive the ORA-12539.
Changes
This may be a new installation of RAC or the REMOTE_LISTENER parameter has been recently added or changed.
