ORA-600 [Kghlatch_reg4] - Older Version of Patch 5508574 does not Fix the Problem (Doc ID 603649.1)

Last updated on MARCH 28, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
z*OBSOLETE: IBM AIX5L Based Systems (32-bit)

After migrating to a new AIX system, database fails to open with ORA-00600 [KGHLATCH_REG4]

Stack trace: kghlatch_register kglsgi kqlnfy kscnfy ksmcsg

Patch for  <Bug 5508574> is already applied, but it does not help.

Starting with _kgl_latch_count=15 as workaround of <Bug 5508574>
enables the DB to open but now the DB processes use 70% of CPU
without users logged on.

Problem started after several instances, including this one, were migrated from
AIX5.3 ML4 to AIX 5.3 ML6. This system has 10 CPUs.
