This problem can occur on any platform.

ORA-942 error is received when running statement that selects from synonyms through a dblink, even though the object exist and appropriate access privileges has been granted to the object.

The statement is normally successful when the user has just been granted the select privilege from the owner of the table.  After an unknown number of times running the statement successfully, the statement begins to fail through both the application (a C program)  and SQL*Plus.

At this point, if the user is again granted the privilege in the exact same way, the select statement is once again successful.

<> and <> have already been applied, but problem persists
