Goal

RMU/LOAD is a utility for loading amounts of data from a flat file into a database. RMU/LOAD is often used with RMU/UNLOAD to selectively reorganize parts of a database.

RMU/LOAD can be used to move a large volume of data. Moving large amounts of data can involve performance penalties. This article describes some of the common pitfalls and remedies.

This article describes some techniques commonly used by Database Administrators (DBAs) to improve the performance of RMU/LOAD.

The techniques described in this article also apply to 3GL programs that load data into an Oracle Rdb database.
