RDBPROD: Modifying the Rdb File Specification Integrated in CDD (Doc ID 66204.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle CDD/Repository - Version 5.3 and later
HP OpenVMS VAX
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha

Goal

You have integrated an Rdb database into CDD. At some point after this, the database files are moved to a different location. Now, trying to access the database by PATHNAME fails. For example:

SQL> attach 'pathname CDD$DEFAULT.MYDB';
%CDD-F-NO_ATT_DB, error attaching to database
-SQL-F-ERRATTDEC, Error attaching to database DISK$USER1:[MINE]MYDB.RDB;
-RDB-E-BAD_DB_FORMAT, DISK$USER1:[DEV]MYDB.RDB; does not reference a database known to Rdb
-RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type for operation

From CDO, a SHOW DATABASE command shows the fully qualified file, but it still points to the original location. How can the entry in CDD be modified to point to the new location?
