RDBPROD: Controlling DECNET Access to Remote Rdb Databases on OpenVMS (Doc ID 67431.1)

Last updated on APRIL 18, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 6.1 and later
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS Itanium

DECNET access to remote Rdb databases may be controlled using Rdb ACLs (Access Control Lists) and OpenVMS Proxy accounts.

To control database access for remote users, Oracle recommends you use proxy accounts for the remote user and define database protection based on the proxy accounts. The use of proxy accounts removes the risk of having passwords sent across the network.

NOTE: In the document content below, the user information and data used represents fictitious data from the Oracle sample schema(s) or Public Documentation delivered with an Oracle database product. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.
