Purpose

To assist with SQL*Net / Net8 / Oracle*Net Performance Tuning.

Note: This document contains references to obsolete parameters. These parameters do not affect the purpose of this document in any way, which is to understand performance tuning with SQL*Net / Net8 / Oracle*Net (all of which will now be referred to SQL*Net in this note unless specific to a particular version).


Scope

This note in intended to assist Oracle Engineers and Oracle Customers with analysis and possible tuning of performance at the Oracle Net level. Much of the data is based on basic skills but some needs to be attended to only by experienced related persons. When these changes need specific skills, it is mentioned.

Please remember that any changes to Oracle or TCP parameters may affect other functions so please make changes with this in mind.
