- Primary &Standby DB are 10.2.0.4

- Used the Broker (DGMGRL) to manage the DataGuard.

- Single Physical Standby(s).

- Primary only uses RAC

Goal

Standby db (IRSCOB) was originally set up to use flashback as archive location. Customer then wanted to change this to use a normal dir (/archives/IRSPROD). Customer changed log_archive_dest_1 and standby_archive_dest. However, whenever Customer do a switchover now, a log_archive_dest_2 is automatically added pointing to ORACLE_HOME/dbs/arch. Even if  do an alter system to set this to blank, it comes back on the next switchover. This happens when it is switched to both STANDBY and PRIMARY roles.

What is proper way to permanently change the archive location?
