Purpose
This Notes describe how a local partitioned index can be build step by step, without building a valid index at the beginning. This is done by an example.
This article assume that the parameter
skip_unusable_indexes = true
That is the 10g and 11g deafult. In 9i skip_unusable_indexes is a session parameter and the default is false.
