Purpose

This Note explains the new feature in 11G - Split and Merge of a Stream Destination . This feature is quite handy in a streams environment and will allow administrators to split a stream in cases where a replica is unavailable and can allow that stream to replicate at a future point in time.

After the replica using the split stream catches up, the stream can be merged into a single stream again.

Scope

Intended to be used by Database Adminstrators and Support analysts.
