Goal

How to specify the HEXADECIMAL format for field delimiters?

You can specify the delimiters in HEXADECIMAL format (i.e. X'<hexadecimal string>'). If HEXADECIMAL specification is not used, the delimiter specification is considered to be in the control file's character set (dictated by NLS_LANG). In this case, before searching for the delimiter in input data file, the delimiter is converted into the datafile's character set.
