Primary Site No Longer Transmits Log Files To Standby Site. (Doc ID 736739.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 [Release 10.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On 10.2.0.x in  a physical standby configuration archiving via arch to standby redo logs suddenly stops.  The messages in the primary site alert log show the primary is no longer opening the standby redo logs however there are no error messages being reported.  The standby site starts falling behind in its application of redo.

In this scenario the Primary site is using the ARCH process, the standby has standby redo logs configured and real time apply is not in use.

Changes

In this case the problem appears to have coincided with a SAN storage alteration at the standby site.  Disk caching was disabled.
