Ora-07445 Core Dump From joxnfy() When Connecting to a Remote Instance. (Doc ID 747187.1)

Symptoms

You get a core dump when attempting to connect to an ASM instance by any means other than local OS authentication.

$ sqlplus sys@asm as sysdba

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Tue Nov 4 11:37:21 2008

Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

Enter password:
ERROR:
ORA-12537: TNS:connection closed


When you check the alert.log it has the following errors:

Errors in file /opt/app/oracle/admin/+ASM/udump/+asm_ora_9278.trc:
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [joxnfy_()+436] [SIGFPE] [HP Conditional trap] [0xC000000002917D1F] [] []


The associated trace files show the following call stack:

joxnfy_()
joxnfy()
kscnfy()
ksmcpg()
ksucrp()
opiino()

The +ASM instance has a passwordfile and the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE parameter is set to  EXCLUSIVE.


This problem can occur for non ASM instances as well.

Changes

You are connecting via a listener started from a different version Oracle Home.
