Symptoms

You get a core dump when attempting to connect to an ASM instance by any means other than local OS authentication.

The associated trace files show the following call stack:

joxnfy_()
joxnfy()
kscnfy()
ksmcpg()
ksucrp()
opiino()

The +ASM instance has a passwordfile and the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE parameter is set to  EXCLUSIVE.

This problem can occur for non ASM instances as well.

Changes

You are connecting via a listener started from a different version Oracle Home.
