Symptoms
When trying to connect AS SYSDBA with Sqlplus on a Unix style system an ORA-12547 "TNS:lost contact" is signalled and a trace file is generated which contains an internal error as follows:

Where xxxx (uid) is not equal to yyyy (euid), the call stack module is : spstp() .
Changes
The permission (chmod) settings on the oracle executable were changed.
