Purpose

This document is intended to provide a list of known patches for Oracle on OpenVMS Itanium and Alpha 10.2.0.4.0.

NOTE: The patches in this note might apply to

10.2.0.4.0
10.2.0.4.3
10.2.0.4.4 and later PSUs

Selecting the patch number together with an OpenVMS platform in the 'Patches and Updates', will show which version that patch can be applied to.

If the patch shows 10.2.0.4.0, it may or may not clash with a current PSU. If there is a conflict message upon patch install, a Service Request should be opened with Oracle Support, if a workaround for the problem is not available.

Scope

What is Oracle OpenVMS 10.2.0.4.0?
--------------------------------------------------

10.2.0.4.0 is the first Patchset on top of 10.2.0.2.0 on OpenVMS Itanium and Alpha.

10.2.0.4.0 for OpenVMS Itanium and Alpha was released on December 12th, 2008.

The Patchset can be downloaded from My Oracle Support - MOS (formerly Metalink) from the "Patches & Updates" tab under "Quick Links to: Latest Patchsets, Mini Packs and Maintenance Packs"

Where to find patches
---------------------

All patches for 10.2.0.4.0 can be found on MOS.

Please ensure that you are using a current version of UNZIP. Older versions of Unzip may corrupt patch contents.
The currently required unzip version is V6.0 (April 2011).

Required reading:

A stand-alone, one-off aka interim patch may conflict with another one-off/interim patch.
For that reason, do not install any one-off patch unless you are experiencing a specific problem.

For our interim patch policy, please see <Note 209768.1>

One-off or interim patches do not have to be installed in chronological order.
What is essential though is to NOT install patches that conflict. Conflicting
patches have one or more modules in common, but contain different fixes.

The patch install script provided with Oracle interim patches will automatically
check for conflicting patches and report any conflicts to your screen. Conflicting
patches, IF you encounter the problems they fix, should be reported to Oracle Support
for resolution.
