Incorrectly Formed Xml Audit Files on Unix (Doc ID 752110.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 02, 2008

Applies to:

Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.2.0.3
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

When using AUDIT_TRAIL=XML (or XML,EXTENDED), the resulting XML audit files are not correctly formatted.
Indications that this bug might be hit are:

+ too many closing </Audit> tags, without a corresponding <Audit> tag, in the same audit file.
+ processes with different PIDs are putting the audit information in the same file.
+ sporadically it would appear that the same audit file is placed in different locations (adump and $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit). This is misleading, files with the same name and different contents are actually placed in the different directories, the way the file name is formed being incorrect.
