Starting with 10.2.0.4, when the number of XML audit files exceeds a certain number (+30000), the queries on v$xml_audit_trail or dba_common_audit_trail start to error out with errors like:
Removing the files from the audit_file_dest directory solves the problem for the moment. In time, however, if the files are not removed, the problem will to reoccur.
This problem is rarely seen on 32k bits systems, where the maxpid parameter is generally hardcoded to 32k.
