a) The following error is seen in the alert log :-
ORA-4031: unable to allocate 3912 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga heap(1,1)","ASM extent pointer array")
The number of bytes that cannot be allocated is not known to be unique, the chunk however must be "ASM extent pointer array" for this article to be considered.
b) The environment is RAC related with not all of the instances open. At least one of the instances
within the environment must be MOUNTED. If all instances are open the article is not considered
appropriate. The error is also linked to ASM/Standby environments.
Further rediscovery information is not trivial due to the root cause of the base bug (see below)
