Async IO does not appear to be in use by Oracle on VxFS (Doc ID 756275.1)

Symptoms

Asynchronous I/O is enabled on the machine and in the database with disk_asynch_io = true and filesystemio_options = asynch but Oracle does not seem to be doing async IO when monitoring from the operating system.

Changes

Veritas ODM driver is being used, which is the default way to setup VxFS with Oracle.

You see some lines like below in alert.log that indicate ODM is being used:
