ORA-19624 ORA-19870 ORA-19504 ORA-27086 When Creating A Database Using DBCA On NFS (Doc ID 758274.1)

Oracle Server Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4

Symptoms

It is possible to get the following errors running dbca during database creation

Errors received from dbca:

Ora-19624: Operation Failed, retry possible
Ora-19870: error reading backup piece
/u01/app/oracle/product/102/assistants/dbca/templates/twofdw2_8k.dfb
Ora-19505:failed to identify file
/u01/app/oracle/product/102/assistants/dbca/templates/twofdw2_8k.dfb
Ora-27037: unable to obtain file status

Or if using using DBCA on NAS NFS storage devices, the process is failing with the following errors :

DBCA_PROGRESS : 1%
DBCA_PROGRESS : 3%
DBCA_PROGRESS : 11%
DBCA_PROGRESS : 18%
DBCA_PROGRESS : 19%
ORA-19624: operation failed, retry possible
ORA-19870: error reading backup piece /disk1/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/assistants/dbca/templates/Seed_Database.dfb
ORA-19504: failed to create file "/disk2/dxstmp-a/read/data/system01.dbf"
ORA-27086: unable to lock file - already in use

The issue can also occur when creating database manually.
