Symptoms
Upgrading Database to 10gR1 (10.1.0.2) or higher
or upgrading ODBC Driver to 9.2.0.8 or higher
and running a unchanged ODBC application following two effects maybe seen:
ODBC Status S1000 at SQLExecDirect: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora] ORA-06550 line 1, column 230
PLS-00172 string literal too long
ORA-06550 line 279, column 271
PLS-00172 string literal too long
PLS-00172 string literal too long
ORA-06550 line 279, column 271
PLS-00172 string literal too long
or an access violation / heap corruption terminating the application silently.
