Last updated on NOVEMBER 28, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.1.0.2 to 11.1.0.6
This problem can occur on any platform.
Oracle Server Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.2.0.1 to 11.1.0.7

Symptoms

ORA-04030 errors occur

The heap dump generated due to 4030 heapdump level 5 will show following pattern.

EXTENT 0 addr=0xb3810008
Chunk b3810010 sz= 16272 free " " << Wasted space
Chunk b3813fa0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call "
Chunk b3817fc0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call " ds=0xb7a1daf0
Chunk b381bfe0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call " ds=0xb7a1daf0
EXTENT 1 addr=0xb3800008
Chunk b3800010 sz= 16272 free " " << Wasted space
Chunk b3803fa0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call " ds=0xb7a1daf0
Chunk b3807fc0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call " ds=0xb7a1daf0
Chunk b380bfe0 sz= 16416 freeable "koh-kghu call " ds=0xb7a1daf0

If a heap dump shows chunks in an extent that are free and almost the same size as the other freeable chunks in the extent, this bug may be in play. It should be noted that the chunks are all in extents of the same subheap.
