Installation of Oracle Enterprise Edition 11.1.0.6 on Linux x86 32bit REDHAT 5 update 2

Symptoms


Problem installing 11.1.0.6 on Linux x86 32bit You get the following error during relinking:

ERROR INVOKING TARGET 'NTCONTAB.O' OF MAKEFILE

Installation Log File

INFO: mv: cannot stat `ntcontab.o': No such file or directory

INFO: /usr/bin/ar: /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib/ntcontab.o: No such file or directory

INFO: make: *** [ntcontab.o] Error 1

Changes

 

Not sure why but the DEFAULT RPM's have been installed and verified.  However, you still get an error during linking. The below is a valid workaround as long as you have already verified the default rpm's installation is complete.
